Introduction Computers have impacted the wave on a large scale. We will find computers in hospitals, libraries, schools and banks. A computer technology advances, the effects will continue to change the world for better. Unfortunately, using computers can also bring many negative effects for your overall health.

1.  Positive impacts

1. Positive effects on learning :- Internet contains online dictionaries, encyclopedias, a wide variety of games and software's, education. Many online videos teach skills such as learning a language.

 2. Social Behavior :- computers offers many opportunities to meet new people. There are many social networking sites that let people connect with others people can communicate in a variety of ways, date people and reconnect with old friends and classmates. The internet can help people find others with common interests, form bonds with strangers and expand their social network.

 3. Personal Life :- —Genealogy —Reconnecting with friends —Easier/Faster communication —Catalog pictures —Games —Access to information

4. Professional life :- • Training online • Job work faster • More affiant • easier access to information • Meeting at a company are reduced • Manage payroll, accounts receivable, taxes • Control inventory

6.Society :- — Computer completes many task easily and quickly. — It save time and efforts. — Many companies use computer for keep record & maintain data. — Banks use computer for maintain accounts and manage financial transactions and provide online transaction , credit card & debit card we use for online shopping & paying bills. —Moreover computer use in every field of life such as education, medical, business, industry, airline & weather forecasting etc.

Overall Positive Impacts :- • Reducing cost/number of staff needed. • Reducing amount of hardware (printers) due to LAN networking. • Fun – games, internet, music, graphics. • Communication. More way to interact globally. • Education – access to info for research.

3 NEGATIVE IMPACTS :

1. Physical Health :- — Short Term eye problems: Burning, itching & tearing. —Eyestrain & eye soreness especially for the video display users. — Employees had heavy workloads are prone to psychological distress like anxiety, irritability & fatigue. — People who have used the computers for an extensive period of time may complain about headaches & pains in their wrists, arms & necks.

2. Children & Exposure to Adult material :- More people, especially children & teenagers, are vulnerable to finding highly explicit adult material. Pornography is easily accessible to children, & this can affect attitude toward sex as they mature. They may have trouble dealing with intimacy & develop a surreal perception of sexual encounters. children who use the internet also are at risk of learning about different type of drugs & how they alter sensations or how crimes are committed.

3. Exposure to Radiation :- Many computers have CRT, or cathode Ray Tube, monitors that give off X- ray radiation that can affect your health. Being exposed to computer radiation can cause cancer, tumor, miscarriage & birth defects, headaches and insomnia. The FDA requires that a computer & TV monitors meet a radiation limit. However they still give off a small amount of radiation.

4. Addiction :- • Neglect of family and friends. • Feeling empty, depressed, irritable when don’t have computer near you. • Problem with school or job. • Sleep disturbances/ change in sleep pattern. • Children addicted to computer games.

5. Personal Life :- — Spend more time on the computer than with your family. —Addiction – less interaction with people. — Faster communication may not be better communication. — Identity theft.

6. Professional Life :- — Working from home limits your interaction with colleagues. —Negative affects computers have your academic life. — Less interaction with classmates.

It reduce the people need & increase the unemployment in society. — Wastage of time. — The unauthorized person can access the data through the network. It has create serious problems to data security. — Many people computer use for negative purpose. They hack the credit card numbers of the people and use them for shopping.

Overall Negative Impacts :- • Sitting behind a computer all day in hard on the eyes. • Computers can distract a person so much they lose contact with the reality around them such as taking time with family, husbands, boyfriends, wives & children. • More crime is committed through the internet. • More misinformation by SOME people on the internet can cause problems for the younger generation. • Hackers can ruin your computer system. • Hackers, ID fraud & spoof websites. • Viruses, spam & Trojans. • Online gamblig.

Applications of Computer

1. Desktop Publishing :- — Creation of documents using page layout skills on personal computer. — Desktop publishing software can generate layout and produce typographic quality text and images comparable to traditional typographic and printing.

2. Marketing:- — Widely used in home shopping. — Advertisement, the purpose of advertising is to improve sales revenues without an equivalent increase in cost. —Telemarketing, it involves the ways to reach previously untapped markets. You may have computerized sales calls on phone.

3. Project Management:- — It is used on computers to plan, schedule, track, analyze, control manpower, material and other resources for complex and variety of projects related to various professions. — Examples are:-Purchase order generation, payroll processing, resource planning, resource allocation, computer added design.
